Sneaks,

My week of many shows (an all-too common thing) continued Friday at Sneaks with DD/MM/YYYY and openers the Mae-Shi (from LA) and Special Noise (Halifax, now based in Montreal). It was a good show, and my first time seeing DD/MM/YYYY ("Day Month Year"). They were great.

On Saturday I caught Coast Guard and then the Miles. I LOVE the Miles! What an amazing band. So good, those kids. Afterwards I went to the Boat for Bang the Party and got there in time for Marienbad's second set of the night. The transition from DJs to band was perfect: I almost didn't notice. Well done.

Sunday I was busy, busy with the podcast and meeting friends, and had a great time at Wavelength. (More Sneaky Dee's in one weekend is always a good thing.) I finally got to see/hear/experience Henri Faberge & the Adorables. !! So awesome. Costumed craziness and totally infectious, dance-y, happy indie pop. It really was something to be a part of. They played all new songs (except for their encore), and under a different name. (It was a secret show.) So very, very fun.

Hello,

I am the webmaster of www.pinhole-glasses-direct.com

I was reading your blog and I see you have a very impressive way of describing things. The information you provide is very helpful. So I was wondering if you could take a look at our product pinhole glasses and write a review about and post it in your blog.

I would really be interested to know if you would be able to post the review in your blog with links to our site.

Regards,

I'm so glad you had a lovely time at our show. What with their intensely chaotic schedules, it's such a delight to spend time with the Adorables whenever I can, and Sunday's show was truly a culmination of heartfelt feelings for our shared experiences and for one another.

To thank you for your kind words, allow me to review the comment concerning Pinhole Glasses, since you are most likely too preoccupied to do so yourself.

My first impression of the comment left by Sandy Williams, webmaster of Pinhole Glasses Direct Inc., is that she has most likely just attended a conference on product awareness and internetual exposure integration.

It can be safely assumed that the role of blogs has entered the concious of the product-hawking masses, in particular their ability to transform a seemingly innocuous trifle into a coveted necessity.

The disparity becomes clear, however, when a blog (or, for that matter, any platform) is exploited for promotion of that which is in no way associated with the forum.

For example:

Ms. Williams has, through one channel or another (a searching box, perhaps) found her way onto a popular, well-written blog about the fledgling independent music scene in Toronto, Canada. How does this type of forum relate to product reviews, or myopia, or eyewear of any fashion?

It does not. Interestingly, the product in question holds no clue as to even the most far-stretched, Kevin Bacon-esque association. Its site reveals very little; no manufacturer's address, no phone number, no possibility of contact whatsoever, save an email address and a convenient order form on which to hastily scrawl your credit card information lest your vision become so far gone that you can't see past the end of your nose.

And to what end? The product in question is, well, a pair of glasses. Fair due, we some of us are in the need of such an item, the nerd-heavy music set even more so than most demographics one might argue. But myopia, cataracts, stygmatisms? Would not, say, CBC Radio 2's blog be more appropriate?

We are all prone to self-promotion; hell, I just scrawled a meter of nonsense to appease my own sense of self-worth. These glasses, however, are like the Valerie Plame identity leak, in that you can't really know what you're getting into unless you have all the facts. Should I take a chance and suggest to my cataract-stricken mother that she do away with her doctor-prescribed eyewear forever, for I have found the ultimate replacement while trolling the web? Sadly, no. The people pushing you to use a "single pair of glasses lifelong" also sheepishly note way down at the bottom (and in italics, no less!) that:

Please Note: Pinhole glasses are meant to be used only for stationary viewing. It is dangerous to use them when you are moving as it affects peripheral vision of the eyes.
