Welcome to my weekly roundup of inexpensive indie(ish) musical happenings in downtown Toronto, all for $10 or less. I try to list as many shows here as I know about, though this list is not comprehensive. If I'm missing something or you have any comments, let me know.
Saw a string of really good Canadian indie bands last week... of note: Burn Planetarium, Gregory Pepper & his Problems (!), Forest City Lovers, The D'Urbervilles, Hexes & Ohs, Winter Gloves, Green Go, and Sports: The Band. Hard to beat, especially since $5 + $10 + pwyc = a lot of music for not a lot of money. I haven't made any decisions about this week, though I'll most likely be out on Saturday and Sunday, and perhaps on Wednesday too.
On the podcast this week Tyler and I welcomed Ben, Branko, and Joel from Dinosaur Bones. I'll let you know the details about the show when it's posted on the internet. More new and exciting guests in the coming weeks.
This week Wednesday through Sunday all look pretty good, with some stellar offerings for both the 19+ and the all ages set. I'll hit up the Tranzac, the Boat, the Horseshoe, Rancho, and Sneaks over the course of the week. Actually, let's put some of those in the maybe column. Rolly's Garage on Saturday afternoon looks like a must, though. Where will you be?
