Sorry, no time for listings this week, but to make up for that, here's a run-down of what I'll be doing and you might be doing. Most of these shows are $10 or less, but a smattering at a little more. But all Jen-approved, of course.
Thursday I went to see Katie Stelmanis, Diamond Rings, and PS I Love You at the Garrison, a new spot on Dundas just west of Ossington. Great show! I enjoyed all the bands and had a big grin on my face kinda the whole night.
Tonight (Friday), I'm headed to the Boat for the Diableros' CD release party w/ Planet Creature. There'll be a dance party after the bands, and the whole thing's only $5. If I have time, at 5pm Two Hours Traffic are playing at Soundscapes (for free), Dan Mangan's at Criminal Records at 6pm (also free), and Spiral Beach are performing at Sonic Boom at 7pm (ditto)! Crazy, eh? Dan's at the Rivoli tonight (w/ Will Currie & the Country French), and the other two at at Lee's Palace. I have serious love for THT. Also tonight, the first of two shows by Cuff the Duke (headling at the Horseshoe) and Shout Out Out Out Out (at Wrongbar). Cuff's backed up by local openers Boys Who Say No tonight, and Great Bloomers on Saturday. SOOOO are bringing along TMDP both nights. Or else catch Arietta at Sneaky Dee's, Ex-Po at Rancho Relaxo, or Shelb Lamb at Tranzac, all tonight. For something a little more active, check out the high-energy and much fun Maylee & Pegwee Power at Supermarket, w/ DJs John Kong & Circle Research.
Saturday, all day, you will want to be on the island for this. It's the annual ALL CAPS! show. Promises to be awesome-awesome. That night you can see the Lovely Killbots at the Cameron House, Donlands & Mortimer at C'est What (w/ T H O M A S), Gentleman Husbands at the Bovine, and Hey Ocean! (w/ The O'Darling) at the Rivoli. Catl and Bradley Boy join forces again at the Dakota Tavern.
Sunday is for Wavelength, of course.
